Real-time information and critical tools for agents.
Overview
A regional property and casualty insurer wanted to build an agent web portal to provide critical information, tools and services to its agents. Based on a referring company's satisfaction with their IBS solution (as well as the same Diamond Policy System), the client approached IBS to partner with them in creating and implementing the web strategy.

Business Challenge
In the first phase of the project, IBS was tasked with helping the client define a global web strategy for its commercial, agency, policyholder and employee sites, and to create the high-level architecture required for these sites. IBS was also requested to develop the detailed architecture for the agency resources site, including the codification of requirements, the information architecture, web architecture and the implementation plan. Subsequent phases were the design and build of the agent portal site and functionality.

Services Provided
IBS worked closely with the client's staff and a group of agents to identify the desired goals and functionality for the global web strategy as well as for the agent portal. Specific agent user tasks and experiences were defined for the agency portal. Design concepts were created and, based on the chosen look, page layouts were created for each part of the agent website.

Next, new functionality for the agent portal was developed and existing elements were redesigned with the new look and feel.

Project Results
A complete analysis and development of a web strategy for an agent portal was completed, followed by the design and implementation of the required functionality. The new agent resources portal is a dynamic site integrated with the client's policy management system that allows real-time access to policy information via the web 24x7.

  • Complete policy inquiry for auto and home policies. Agents have real time access to almost all of the information within the Diamond policy management system via the web, presented in an interface designed specifically for agents.
  • Dynamic form population from the policy inquiry screen for forms such as notice of loss and change requests.
  • Online credit card and EFT payments (both batch and individual).
  • Claims submission.
  • On line catalog allowing agents to order promotional merchandise and supplies on line.
  • On line help and FAQs.

IBS Expertise
IBS used XML to get data from the Diamond System to the web server. The complex data model keeps the site easy to maintain, secure and working efficiently. Microsoft technology, Visual Basic, ASP, SQL Server and IIS were used.
