Business Challenge
The tool and die maker offers thousands of different products, someas small as a bolt. Die sets comprise various parts, and customers often configure their own sets, sometimes using parts of different manufacturers. To gain an advantage in a competitive market, thecompany needed to simplify ordering for the customer and streamline its own processes to save time and expenses.

The IBS team was responsible for the design, development, testing, and implementation of a Web site and online catalog. Online ordering will be greatly simplified for the customer through several key features. Customers will be able to register a die set, which will allow them to order all of the individual parts in that set using one registration number. They also will have the ability to view any part and combine it with other parts to see the results.
Payment processes will be simplified with pre-established credit limits. When limits are exceeded, the system will not cancel the order, but will alert the credit department so arrangements for payment can be made. The system also automatically converts all international currencies to U.S. dollars.
In addition to streamlining the ordering process for customers, the solution also is designed to streamline administration. IBS tailored the solution to meet the specific business needs of the tool and die maker, while addressing customer preferences. This design flexibility was a key factor in selecting IBS. Another key factor was the design process itself. Offsite development overcame space limitations at the client and eliminated workplace disruptions. In addition, a comprehensive reporting process was established to allow online review of the project progress and facilitate client involvement.
