Business Challenge
The client was in need of an employee-facing vehicle to disseminate information throughout the organization. The new intranet needed to be easy to maintain as well as provide much-needed document libraries, discussion threads, calendar-sharing and workflow solutions. Scalability and extensibility to meet future needs were vital.
IBS Services
IBS developed the employee website using Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005. The initial site comprised thousands of virtual web pages and included sub-sites for each business area of the client. Concept development, branding, website and page development--as well as infrastructure design and implementation--were provided by the IBS team.
Features of the intranet include:
- Access to online forms and policies
- Version-controlled document libraries, calendars and other collaboration tools
- 100% dynamic web content driven by SharePoint lists and libraries, including page copy, banner ads, photo galleries, etc.
- Integrated search engine
- Unique editing permissions by business area
- Easy management of content
- Extensible and scalable platform
- Third-party content is integrated and transparently presented to the user
