Offshore Application Maintenance Frees Up Internal Resources

The Client

The client is a nonprofit organization with nearly 40 million members that advocates for the 50-and-over population at the local, state and national levels. They also advocate for consumers in the marketplace by affiliating the company name with products and services that benefit its members.

The Challenge

The client required an experienced team to maintain and enhance their existing suite of mainframe-based membership applications. They did not want to exhaust internal IT resources for the job, nor did they want to utilize internal HR resources to build the team. The client had already worked with Interactive Business Systems on a previous mainframe application maintenance staffing project, and felt confident in their capabilities.

The Solution

IBS put together a team of five resources including an Onsite Team Lead, and four offshore COBOL developers working at IBS’ location in Hyderabad, India.

The team was responsible for:
  • Monitoring the ticketing systems for incidents and maintenance requests
  • Analyzing the maintenance requests
  • Coding the solutions
  • Testing the solutions

The team went into the engagement with a large backlog of requests and incidents. On top of that, they handled over 50 additional incidents/requests of various sizes each day.

The Results

IBS reduced the large backlog of outstanding incidents and enhancement requests and then exceeded ongoing maintenance SLAs moving forward.
